Wichita Habitat for Humanity is looking for three self-motivated, team players committed to joining the front lines in the fight against poverty in America. VISTA members will commit to a year of full-time service withWichita Habitat for Humanity during the 2008-2009 year.

Position Descriptions:
Homeowner Readiness Program Coordinator:
Develop and coordinate a program that will prepare interested applicants for Wichita Habitat’s homeownership program. Responsibilities include training and coordinating volunteers to teach educational classes, recruiting applicants and working with other non-profits throughout the Wichita community.
De-Construction Program Coordinator:
Create, coordinate and manage all of the operations of Deconstruction which includes; inspecting the buildings, scheduling, obtaining permits, supervising volunteer workers, providing guidelines for safety and ultimately providing quality materials for Wichita Habitat’s ReStore to sell. This position requires considerable construction knowledge and experience.
Volunteer Development Program Coordinator:
Develop new systems and processes to recruit, track and retain quality volunteers to work in the ReStore and on the construction projects. Create a seemless interface to enable ease of communication with volunteers. Further develop a volunteer recognition program that highlights hours of service and projects completed.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- College graduate or some college preferred, but not required
- U.S. Citizen or legal resident alien
Benefits provided thru the Americorps* VISTA program:
- $10,380 annual living allowance
- Health coverage
- $4,725 end of service education award or $1,200 stipend
- Moving expenses if relocating to serve
Skills Needed:
- Ability to train, encourage and supervise volunteers
- Good leadership and organization skills
- Ability to work independently
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Commitment to Habitat’s housing ministry goals, flexible attitude and strong work ethic
- Ability to relate to people of different races, faiths and incomes
- Computer skills
