is normally 6-12 months. During this time you will be
working your “sweat equity” hours, attending
homeownership classes and saving money for closing costs.
2. How much is the downpayment?
Wichita Habitat requires no downpayment. You are
required to pay $1200 in closing costs at your mortgage signing
.
3. What about my credit?
Wichita Habitat is willing to work with those whose credit is less
than perfect. However, if you have had problems with your credit
in the past, we encourage you to begin working to repair it right away.
Get a free copy of your credit report at www.annualcreditreport.com
then contact an agency such as Consumer Credit Counseling Services
for guidance and advice. A small fee may apply.
4. Where does Wichita Habitat for Humanity build homes?
Wichita Habitat builds homes on lots that we own. We currently
own lots in several locations throughout the city of Wichita.
Construction kicked off in August 2007 on our 40-plus home
