Volunteer

Our work is impossible without volunteers.  People like you who want to make a difference and do by helping build homes, working at our Jonathan Rivers - WHFHReStore, spending time working on a committee or serving as a budget coach.  When you volunteer with us, you help us build stronger families and communities.

Take a look at the various ways in which we (and you) make a difference through the work of Habitat for Humanity and get involved. You’ll be glad you did!

Thank you!

Ways to Volunteer

Construction volunteers work under the supervision of our construction staff and core volunteers to build our homes. Come by yourself or with a group of friends or co-workers.  No experience is required, and you can bring your own tools or use ours!  Wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes.  Be prepared to get dirty but have extraordinary fun!

Core Construction volunteers are invaluable to our work. These are our volunteers who work with us on a regular basis, and sometimes help lead other small groups of volunteers. If you’re looking for a way to get regularly involved with Wichita Habitat, this could a great fit for you! And don’t feel like you have to be a construction expert; as long as you have a heart for Habitat and enjoy working with people, you’ll be great! Meet our Core Volunteers below and you may find you have a bit in common.

It takes more than hammers and nails to do our work. Here are other volunteer opportunities:

ReStore volunteers help us in many ways.  Perhaps you have a little time to help prepare the merchandise for sale, stock and restock items, sort and organize inventory?  There’s lot to do so if you’re 14 years of age or older (volunteers under 18 years of age must have a parent/guardian sign a Minor Waiver of Liability). To get started, click on Volunteer Opportunities to the right and sign up for a ReStore New Volunteer Orientation date.

Hospitality volunteers help to prepare the construction site for volunteers and get everyone checked in. If you want to get involved but feel like you can’t commit to a full shift of volunteer work, consider serving as a hospitality volunteer to get you started.

NEW! Budget Coaches draw on their experiences managing a household budget to help partner families set goals and work toward them. The position requires 1-4 hours/month of contact for 6-18 months (based on the needs of the partners). Contact [email protected] or call 316-269-0755 ext 112, to learn more. We also need coaches who speak Spanish and Vietnamese so please recommend this opportunity to your friends and colleagues.
